The Cure For Anger 1/3/2022

 Good Morning,

I am nice and warm on this cold frigid day in Wisconsin. The house is heating up nicely and a hot mug of Door County Caramel Apple Coffee isn't hurting the situation at all.

Most of us have experienced a time when we have been angry with someone or angry with ourselves. It is just a fact of life. Anger that is left uncontrolled is like a festering wound. It eats away at our spirit the same way that infection eats away at our flesh.

Maybe that was a little too graphic for the morning and your breakfast, but it is the truth. There are some steps that I would like to recommend today for the control and removal of anger.

1. Prayer. Pray for the person or persons woo have angered you. If you are angry with yourself, stop and pray and ask God for the strength to forgive. You will harbor anger within, until the forgiveness takes place.

Matthew 5:44 But I tell you love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.

Ephesians 4:32 Be kind to one another, tender hearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.

Psalm 103:2-3 Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all of His benefits, 3. who forgives all your sins and heals your diseases.

2. Read your Bible and forgive. The Word of God always leads us to acting like Jesus and his model for life is one of forgiveness.

2 Timothy 3:16 All Scripture is inspired by God and is profitable for doctrine, reproof, for correction, and for instruction in righteousness.

3. Beware of your own sin. The combination of prayer and God's word will illuminate any areas of anger that could or are causing you to sin.  For instance, wishing the person you are angry with would die. That's extreme. On the other end of the spectrum would be to forego gatherings (especially family)  because that anger source will be there. You will find yourself justifying not attending, "because it would be better for everyone if you weren't there." If this is the case, go back to steps 1 and 2 and start over. Obviously you haven't forgiven and the Word of God does not promote partial healing of the heart. It promotes total healing.

Ephesians 4;26 Be angry, but do not sin. Do not let the sun go down on your wrath.

Anger can be managed. Identify why you are angry and ask God to help you overcome the burden of carrying that extra baggage and avoid sinning any further in your anger.

Have an anger free day! Don't be the kettle that boils over!

Marty
