Delivered Our Mail For 18 Years 1/4/2022

 Good Morning,

I thought I would start this day with prayer and a hot mug of Door County White Christmas Coffee and then begin to write. My plan came true and so here goes.

Galatians 6:9 And let us not grow weary of doing good., for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.

On December 31st 2021 or mail delivery person retired. We knew him as Mike. His delivery truck had a distinct sound and everyone in the neighborhood knew the sound and would know that within a few minutes Mike would be delivering the bills, cards and catalogs. In some instances he delivered packages and would bring them right to your door. He always had time to say hi and chit chat for a few seconds when the weather afforded it. Our two dogs loved him and always greeted him with their tails wagging.

Mike was prompt and always smiled as he performed his route in a professional way and yet the route was his. He owned the success of his route. You could always tell when Mike was on vacation or absent for some other reason. The mail came at different times and it was also noted that we and others received mail for other people. And at times people would return our mail to us.

On the 31st  Mike was remembered by our neighbors on his last day. Many of the mailboxes were decorated with white and blue balloons. We were third to last on Mikes route. The tribute to Mike included some gifts. Mike had tears in his eyes as he drove up. We talked for a minute and he placed our mail into the box. My wife had tears in her eyes too. We thanked him and told him he would be missed. He sped off to the last two houses. It's funny how just being friendly and doing a great job will impact the hearts of others. Mike was that kind of guy.

So today, whatever you do, be friendly and do your work professionally and do it with a smile. You might just make someone else's day!

God bless,

Marty
