Victory Over Temptation 9/30/2014

Good Morning,

As was predicted, the weather changed in Wisconsin and the coffee needs to be hotter today with these colder temperatures. So my cup is filled with Door County Caramel Apple Coffee and I am headed off to work.

1 Corinthians 10:13New King James Version (NKJV)
13 No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.

I don't know about you but I will admit that different temptations come my way all the time. I am sure we can all say that. Did you know that when you were a baby and then grew older and began to speak, that one of the first words you mastered was one key way to defeat temptation?

That first battle implement in defeating temptations was the word NO.
As a little child when we did not want to do something we just said no, threw a fit and most of the time our parents gave in and we did not have to do it. The problem now is that when Satan sends a temptation our way we refuse to throw a temper tantrum scream no and walk away. We stick around and try to do battle with the temptation thinking we can be near it and not fall to the trap.

As Scripture says, God provides a way out of every temptation. Sometimes the way out is by just not going near it. Staying away is always the best way. Saying no out loud and walking away is also a way that God shows us how to defeat temptation.

Share what you are tempted with to another person you trust. They might also be tempted with the same things. Ask when you are tempted if it would be ok for you to call them and pray together. Accountability is a great way to overcome temptation.

Also memorize Scriptures that you can recall during temptations.  Jesus did this during His temptation by Satan. He fought off the devil with Scripture.

Psalm 119:11King James Version (KJV)
11 Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.

Now when they pass the bakery plate, just one doughnut. Having two is a temptation you just gave into.

God bless,
Marty

Just Resting For Awhile 9/29/2014

Good Morning,

My coffee this Morning is Door County Highlander Grog. I really enjoy this flavor on Monday's especially. It has a little bit of a stronger brew to it.

My weekend was especially busy as I travelled to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and visited with my Dad. Of course the dog and the shot gun were with me so I could chase some ducks and grouse. I found the weather to be a little too warm for productive hunting although I managed to get a couple ducks.

With the weather being as warm as it was I needed to keep our dog Gibbs well hydrated and cool. I know the land pretty well where I hunt and knew how long we could go before needing a rest and some water. So we would walk and hunt, then rest and he would cool off in a stream or pond. Yesterday as we wrapped up the hunt I decided to take him to one of my favorite spots and let him play in the water until he was cool and "clean". I was able to carry in my bible and a study book. The time spent there was so refreshing. It was peaceful and quiet. The landscape was painted in fall colors. A few leaves were falling.

I had walked quite a bit earlier and the rest along with a bottle of cold water did me very well. I spent some time reading and praying while Gibbs swam and played.

I knew I wasn't alone though. I was very content and my Bible study was fruitful. I was with God and the nature He gave me to use.

Deuteronomy 4:29New American Standard Bible (NASB)
29 But from there you will seek the Lord your God, and you will find Him if you search for Him with all your heart and all your soul.

Have a great day. Take time to seek Him.

When A Guy Like Me, Meets A Girl Like Her.

Good Evening,

My coffee this morning was a cup of Door County Pumpkin Spice. The weather is a little unseasonably warm so the Pumpkin Spice seems out of place. Next week the cold will come back and all will be in order for me.

Yesterday we celebrated our wedding anniversary. We always joke when people ask us how long we have been married with a reply of "1000 years". It seems like just yesterday that we walked out of the church as husband and wife. That really isn't the case. It was a long time ago.

Our years together started with a first date. Our date was a canoe trip down a river with some rapids. I can still see that canoe tipping and paddles flying as we scrambled out of the cold water. But what I remember best was how much we laughed that day. I fell in love with Rene's laugh

In our marriage there have been bumps. Everyone goes through them. But it seems to me that not too many days go by where we don't find something to laugh about. On the first date I knew that I was dating up and that if I landed this lady I would be blessed. I look forward to each day that brings us some laughter.

There is more to Rene than her laugh. Earlier in my life I underlined a passage in the Book Of Proverbs, hoping and praying that I would find a wife like the one mentioned in Proverbs 31. For me on September 27th the search was over.

Proverbs 31:10-31Living Bible (TLB)
10 If you can find a truly good wife, she is worth more than precious gems! 11 Her husband can trust her, and she will richly satisfy his needs. 12 She will not hinder him but help him all her life. 13 She finds wool and flax and busily spins it. 14 She buys imported foods brought by ship from distant ports. 15 She gets up before dawn to prepare breakfast for her household and plans the day’s work for her servant girls. 16 She goes out to inspect a field and buys it; with her own hands she plants a vineyard. 17 She is energetic, a hard worker, 18 and watches for bargains. She works far into the night!
19-20 She sews for the poor and generously helps those in need. 21 She has no fear of winter for her household, for she has made warm clothes for all of them. 22 She also upholsters with finest tapestry; her own clothing is beautifully made—a purple gown of pure linen. 23 Her husband is well known, for he sits in the council chamber with the other civic leaders. 24 She makes belted linen garments to sell to the merchants.
25 She is a woman of strength and dignity and has no fear of old age. 26 When she speaks, her words are wise, and kindness is the rule for everything she says.  27 She watches carefully all that goes on throughout her household and is never lazy. 28 Her children stand and bless her; so does her husband. He praises her with these words: 29 “There are many fine women in the world, but you are the best of them all!”
30 Charm can be deceptive and beauty doesn’t last, but a woman who fears and reverences God shall be greatly praised. 31 Praise her for the many fine things she does. These good deeds of hers shall bring her honor and recognition from people of importance.

Happy anniversary Hon!

God Bless,
Marty

A Lunch Fit For A King 9/26/2014

Good Morning.

Friday came again this week right after Thursday. My coffee cup is filled with Door County German Chocolate Cake Coffee. It tastes better than ever today. I want to apologize for missing a few weeks of the blog. Our internet service has been down and was just restored last night. I have missed writing to you.

For those of you just joining the blog or for those who don't know, I work in a hospital. I am usually very busy but I do find time to eat a quick lunch. The hospital serves good food in the cafeteria, but I tend to pack my lunch and eat at my desk.

Rene and I were blessed to have someone give us some smoked fish recently. I am very fond of smoked salmon and so is Rene. The other day I took along a chunk of the salmon and a small bread bun that we baked earlier this week for my lunch. Ahhh! Homemade bread and fish. A little coffee from my thermos and I had the makings of a delightful feast. While I was munching on the bread and fish a coworker stopped by and said "your peasant lunch looks delicious". I offered her some and she left with a little bread and salmon. I asked her later what she meant by peasant? She replied that my lunch was very simple and that although very tasty was not as elegant as what I could have had in the hospital cafeteria.

That made me think about fish and Jesus. Jesus took fish and bread and fed thousands with it. Jesus was also a social person so I imagine that when everyone sat down to eat, He ate with them.
As I pondered this, it came to mind that my lunch was fit for a King. The King served dried fish and bread for dinner. That thought alone made me remember to be thankful for my food and how blessed I was to have a lunch, let alone one that was fit for a King. After I prayed and gave thanks, I knew that not only did I eat a great lunch, but the King joined me.

Matthew 14:13-21New King James Version (NKJV)

Feeding the Five Thousand

13 When Jesus heard it, He departed from there by boat to a deserted place by Himself. But when the multitudes heard it, they followed Him on foot from the cities. 14 And when Jesus went out He saw a great multitude; and He was moved with compassion for them, and healed their sick. 15 When it was evening, His disciples came to Him, saying, “This is a deserted place, and the hour is already late. Send the multitudes away, that they may go into the villages and buy themselves food.”
16 But Jesus said to them, “They do not need to go away. You give them something to eat.”
17 And they said to Him, “We have here only five loaves and two fish.”
18 He said, “Bring them here to Me.” 19 Then He commanded the multitudes to sit down on the grass. And He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, He blessed and broke and gave the loaves to the disciples; and the disciples gave to the multitudes. 20 So they all ate and were filled, and they took up twelve baskets full of the fragments that remained. 21 Now those who had eaten were about five thousand men, besides women and children.

Have a wonderful day.

Time For Silence 9/11/2014

Good Morning,

I am headed out the door in a hurry today. I have a lot to do and it will be a long day with too much to process with thought. There are a lot of things swirling around in my mind this morning. I think you all know those kind of days and nights. Mine started around 9 PM last night.

I filled my coffee cup with Door County Peanut Butter Crunch and it's off to the races.

Today is a somber day in the United States. We will all stop to remember September 11th and recall the terrorist attack on the Twin Towers in New York, the plane that hit the Pentagon, and the brave people that took on the terrorists high in the sky sacrificing their own lives to save others. I can remember where I was that day and how the world seemed to stop. There was much fire, smoke, injury and death. There were also many, many acts of heroism that day. It is amazing what people can do when their backs are against the wall. Families have recovered as best they can from the losses they experienced. But I wonder what we missed. Those who perished, was there a cure for Ebola in that group? Was there a future evangelist in the group? Was there an inventor in the group who could stop global warming? We will never know.

In Light of the day, I am posting Scripture that I turned to that day and have underlined it in my Bible.
Psalm 27 New King James Version (NKJV)

An Exuberant Declaration of Faith

A Psalm of David.

27 The Lord is my light and my salvation;
Whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the strength of my life;
Of whom shall I be afraid?
When the wicked came against me
To eat up my flesh,
My enemies and foes,
They stumbled and fell.
Though an army may encamp against me,
My heart shall not fear;
Though war may rise against me,
In this I will be confident.
One thing I have desired of the Lord,
That will I seek:
That I may dwell in the house of the Lord
All the days of my life,
To behold the beauty of the Lord,
And to inquire in His temple.
For in the time of trouble
He shall hide me in His pavilion;
In the secret place of His tabernacle
He shall hide me;
He shall set me high upon a rock.
And now my head shall be lifted up above my enemies all around me;
Therefore I will offer sacrifices of joy in His tabernacle;
I will sing, yes, I will sing praises to the Lord.
Hear, O Lord, when I cry with my voice!
Have mercy also upon me, and answer me.
When You said, “Seek My face,”
My heart said to You, “Your face, Lord, I will seek.”
Do not hide Your face from me;
Do not turn Your servant away in anger;
You have been my help;
Do not leave me nor forsake me,
O God of my salvation.
10 When my father and my mother forsake me,
Then the Lord will take care of me.
11 Teach me Your way, O Lord,
And lead me in a smooth path, because of my enemies.
12 Do not deliver me to the will of my adversaries;
For false witnesses have risen against me,
And such as breathe out violence.
13 I would have lost heart, unless I had believed
That I would see the goodness of the Lord
In the land of the living.
14 Wait on the Lord;
Be of good courage,
And He shall strengthen your heart;
Wait, I say, on the Lord!

Be still for awhile today and then make sure to live life to the fullest.
God bless,
Marty

I Want To Go Where Love Is 9/10/2014

Good Morning,

Stormy weather is in the forecast for this morning. So my coffee is going to match the weather. Today my cup is filled with Door County Jamaican Me Crazy.

In my travels I have visited and worked in a few orphanages. Many of the kids will live there until their adult life. Very few are ever adopted once they are beyond toddler age. When I visited an orphanage many years ago a little girl was telling me how she pictured a home that she could go to and love would be there.  I asked her how she knew if love would be there. She replied "if I don't want to leave and no one wants me to leave, love is there. I told her how love can live within us through Jesus and that Jesus is love.

Jesus describes the depth of His love for us, “As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. If you obey my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have obeyed my Father’s commands and remain in his love. I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete” (John 15:9-11). He loves us no matter what—even when we disobey. But we will live in His love, enjoy His love, as we obey Him.

This little girl never did get adopted. She eventually went on to study at a university, but came back to her orphanage to work as the administrator. I asked her why she came back. She told me that she always wanted to live where love was and she would know love when she did not want to leave and no one wanted her to leave. She said. "I hope these little ones find the love of Jesus in me". She was home.

Where do you want to live?

God bless,
Marty

Division Within The Families and Church 9/9/2014

Good Morning,

I am starting this Tuesday morning with a big cup of Door County Harvest Blend Coffee. Just what I need to get moving.

There are many lessons we can learn from the Bible. There are more lessons than I will ever be able to write about. We often hear of divisions within families and churches. In Philippians 4:2-9 we pick up a hint of division in the church.

Philippians 4:2-9New King James Version (NKJV)

Be United, Joyful, and in Prayer

I implore Euodia and I implore Syntyche to be of the same mind in the Lord. And[a] I urge you also, true companion, help these women who labored with me in the gospel, with Clement also, and the rest of my fellow workers, whose names are in the Book of Life.
Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice!
Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand.
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Meditate on These Things

Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.

Paul appealed to Euodia  and Syntyche to agree with each other and for the entire church to stand firm in the Lord. Paul offered them a solution for receiving God's peace, to rejoice in the Lord and let their thoughts be filled with that which is good, lovely and true. Good advice for church and home.

How can one be divided and disagree to the point of exasperating others if they are rejoicing at all times by what Jesus has done for them? How can one be in disagreement with a family member to the point of exasperation while meditating on lovely things, praiseworthy people or things, or whatever things are pure?

We are as cantankerous and crabby as we choose to be. We can strive for peace when we concentrate on God and the beauty around us. What do you choose, peace, strife or crabbiness?

God bless,
Marty

Being Married 9/8/2014

Good Morning,
My coffee today is Door County Maple. This is one of my favorite coffee flavors. To be honest with you I like anything that is maple flavored. I will be opening a jar of maple mustard this month when I hunt in North Dakota.

Yesterday we were able to spend some time with dear friends and their children. It was our annual harvest the apples from our trees day. We were blessed to have more apples than expected. We sure appreciate this family and all the help they give so graciously. Their kids scaled the trees and very soon all the apples were picked and loaded into their car and our garage.

The afternoon went into supper and a little beyond. We grilled some meat and potatoes. We munched on strawberries for dessert. The house was filled with laughter and sooner than we thought some sleepy kids.

After our guests headed for home I mentioned to Rene that this day each year is one that I look forward to. She smile as she loaded the dish washer and said "Me too".

Rene and I are two different people for sure. But we also have a lot in common. As the years go by we find more and more things that we enjoy together. I mentioned my thoughts to her and she replied "that's what marriage is all about, enjoying things and people together."

I guess our wedding verse has really come to be a part of our lives.

Ruth 1:16-17

16 But Ruth said:
“Entreat me not to leave you,
Or to turn back from following after you;
For wherever you go, I will go;
And wherever you lodge, I will lodge;
Your people shall be my people,
And your God, my God.
17 Where you die, I will die,
And there will I be buried.
The Lord do so to me, and more also,
If anything but death parts you and me.”

This is the good life and I am truly grateful.

God bless,
Marty

You Can Tell That You have Been High When You Are Low 9/7/14

Good Morning,

The coffee is hot and the flavor is awesome. Door County Apple Cobbler Coffee is swirling in my mug.

One of the experiences of going out on short term mission trips is the return to normal at home. You have just spent 7-10 days 24 /7 serving God, giving it your all and now you are back home to NORMAL!!

I hear from many of my friends that it is depressing to be home. I challenge them to think about it this this way. The only way you know that you are low and depressed is that you have been on high! Cherish the high times and let it carry you in between ministry missions. This works for those in home ministries also. Each Sunday is different. Some are highs and some are lows.

So be patient and wait for the Lord's next assignment. Then smile and remember that you were there and the only way you can tell that you are low is because you spent 24/7 with the King.

Isaiah 40:31King James Version (KJV)
31 But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

God bless,
Marty

This Gun Is Not For Hire 9/6/2014

Hi and Good Morning,

Today my cup is filled with Door county Peanut Butter Crunch Coffee. My heart is filled with the Holy Spirit and my mind is filled with anticipation of seeing the sun come up on a crisp Wisconsin morning.

I hope the title of today's message di not alarm you. I am one who enjoys a good old fashioned Western Cowboy movie or novel. John Wayne is one of the actors I still love to watch on a cold winters night.

In many of the old cowboy movies and novels I have partaken in there have been stories about two parties who are having a disagreement over land boundaries, water or gold. It usually leads to a shoot out or small war between the groups or families. Most of the time the battle is fueled by greed. So to get the upper hand one party or both will hire professional gun slingers who are fast with their guns to help win the battle. These gun slingers don't care who is wrong or who is right. They just shoot people for money.

As an elder in our church I am often called upon by someone to listen as they explain how someone has wronged them. They usually want me to talk to that person and "straighten them out". People figure that if they get to me and explain their side first they will have me on their side. I see this happen to our Pastors also.

Well this "gun slinger" and our pastors did not fall off of the stage coach yesterday. I always refuse to "open fire" and ask the "wronged party" if they have read the Biblical correction principals of Matthew 18. In most instances they haven't. It is important to be Biblical in corrections.  When followed correctly most "range wars" do not get beyond step one. This can be a teaching moment.

The first step is always to be in prayer about the situation and to make sure that your own heart is clean and free of sin.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
16 Rejoice always, 17 pray without ceasing, 18 in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you

Secondly during this prayer time ask yourself this question. Am I doing this to save a relationship, correct a brother out of love, or to just win an argument? Let the Holy Spirit show you where your heart is.
Then read!!!!!

Matthew 18:15-17New Living Translation (NLT)

Correcting Another Believer

15 “If another believer[a] sins against you,[b] go privately and point out the offense. If the other person listens and confesses it, you have won that person back. 16 But if you are unsuccessful, take one or two others with you and go back again, so that everything you say may be confirmed by two or three witnesses. 17 If the person still refuses to listen, take your case to the church. Then if he or she won’t accept the church’s decision, treat that person as a pagan or a corrupt tax collector.

In verse 15 there are two points go privately is the first step. To go privately also means to keep one's mouth shut about the subject and not enlist the help of gossip mongers as do gooders who now know the other person's business. Most times this happens when people say "please pray for me as I confront this other person."
Secondly if the matter is handled in the first step and you are also not part of the problem then this is another opportunity for you to drink a big cup of shut up juice and move on in love with that brother or sister. The matter was settled in private. No need to discuss it with others less the guns of revenge be opened up on you. If it is not solved in step one .....................

Then and only then do you move on to the other steps enlisting help.

Follow these steps and most often you will have built a relationship back instead of creating a holy war.

Don't take your guns to town son! ( Popular Country Western Lyrics)

God bless. May all your battles be little ones.

Anonymous Gifts 9/5/2014

Good Morning,

Friday is here once again. I can always say that Friday is welcome every week. My coffee today is Door County Maple. Wow, now that is what fall coffee should taste like. I enjoy this one especially when it is super cold outside.

I don't know about you all but I like to give anonymous gifts. My good buddy Don and I used to go out at Christmas for breakfast and order some coffee and a little bite to eat. We would then leave a tip that was about 5 times more than what would customarily be given to the waiter or waitress. We would then leave quickly and watch from afar to see the reaction of the waiter or waitress. They would often look around to say thank you but we would be long gone.

There is another way we can gift people anonymously that may have a greater impact. We can pray for people from around the world and they might never know that you prayed for them. You can call upon God on their behalf. For instance last night I prayed for a heroin addict that I might not ever meet. I heard about him yesterday.  We all can do that. You can give the gift of your love and time. Better yet you get to spend time with God while gifting. Our prayers can do so much and we can give of our time to help someone and it is totally anonymous.  The best gift we can give is to call upon God for help, comfort, blessings or intervention for others.

1 Timothy 2:1
First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people,

So friends, "give away" and enjoy helping those who can use some prayer. If you can't think of anyone, ask God to show you who to pray for.

God bless,
Marty

A New Coat of Paint 9/4/2014

Good Morning.

I have started today with a large mug of Door County German Chocolate Cake Coffee. I filled a small thermos with the coffee for later this morning at work. One has to be good to himself once in awhile.

Last night I started the process to change colors on my duck boat. I was told that if I want to be successful on a hunt to North Dakota I would need more green in my boat color. You can see the difference from the old to the new. The bottom picture is not complete yet but the boat looks entirely different.

The boat will help us to conceal ourselves better and then lure the ducks in for a closer shot. This is fatal to the ducks.

Life often presents things that look good but can deliver a devastating blow to us, our families or our churches. Sin often disguises itself as good, but is lethal to the believer. Many a person has fallen to the sin of gossip in the name of wanting to help someone. It often starts by betraying a confidence like this, "did you know this about him or her? You might want to stay away from them." This gossip might even be true, but what did we accomplish by spreading the bad news? Does the other person ever get a break that way?

These juicy tidbits of news just lead the believer into the world's trap of sin. Just like this boat will help to fill my freezer with fowl.

Many a feud has started by repeating what others have said.
One of the things that can destroy any church or ministry is gossip. Other terms in the Bible for gossip include:  backbiter, busybody, slanderer, secrets, talebearer and whisperers.  So then, a Biblical definition of gossip would be to spread rumors or secrets, speak about someone maliciously behind their back or repeat something about someone else that you have no right to repeat. My wife often says “If you aren’t part of the problem or the solution, its gossip”. Let’s take a look at how the Bible warns and teaches us about this destructive behavior known as gossip.

Proverbs 16:28 A dishonest man spreads strife, and a whisperer separates close friends.

Secrets and Gossip!!!!!!!!!!

Leviticus 19:16 You shall not go around as a slanderer among your people, and you shall not stand up against the life of your neighbor: I am the LORD.

Proverbs 11:13 Whoever goes about slandering reveals secrets, but he who is trustworthy in spirit keeps a thing covered.

Be careful out there! What you say today just might come back to you with a vengeance!

Have a great Thursday.

Apple Sauce. What An Aroma! 9/3/2014 With a Recipe.

Good Morning.

I pray that all of you are well and spiritually at peace today. My cup runs over with Door County Peanut Butter Crunch Coffee. I am not defacing Psalm 23 with my remarks. I actually filled my cup too full and spilled a little on to my desk. I am a laundry problem.

Last night we picked up some of the apples that are falling to the ground from our trees. I know that tonight those apples will be turned into chunky style apple sauce. Once the spices are added and the apples begin to simmer, our home is filled with an aroma that lasts for days. No scented candles needed here! The smell of the apple sauce reminds me of many blessings. God gave us apple trees, the land for them to grow, sunshine, rain, friends to help with the harvest and all the spices needed for the simmering pot of blessings.

God is a sweet aroma to us in all that He does. There are some many beautiful aromas around the world. But I believe if God were to wear after shave one of the bottles on His dresser would be a bottle of "apple shave".

Psalm 103:1-2
 103 Bless the Lord, O my soul;
And all that is within me, bless His holy name!
Bless the Lord, O my soul,
And forget not all His benefits:

Take some time to count your blessings today. Share an apple with someone.

God bless,

Marty

Swimming, But Going Nowhere. 9/2/2014

Good Morning,

Already Tuesday and headed to Friday, Amen! My coffee this morning is Door County Cinnamon Hazelnut. My cup is full and I am headed out the door with a smile on my face and a prayer in my heart.

Yesterday was the start of goose hunting season. Our puppy Gibbs is now two years old and eager to hunt. This little Springer Spaniel is a smaller version of the breed. But his heart is large enough to be two dogs.

We have received quite a bit of rain lately and the rivers are a little swollen and the currents just a little faster. Well my hunting spot is on the river and I always walk down the river with my dog. Our last hunter Fritz had long legs and was quite powerful. As we headed out in the dark, we were traveling with the current. It was dark and cloudy. I was hunting with my Nephew Nick. He noticed that Gibbs was way ahead of us. I whistled for Gibbs and I could see the reflection of his eyes as he turned to us. The current had carried him down river and he was resting near some dead falls that supported him staying still. We set up right there and hunted for awhile.

As with every hunt this one too came to an end. It was time to go back to the trucks. This time the trip was against the current. I made sure that I hugged the river bank as we waded back. Gibbs for the most part was able to get his feet on the ground and we headed back. All was just fine until we reached a spot that was a little deeper and the current was stronger. His little legs were swimming hard but he was going nowhere. We were a few steps ahead when I looked back at Gibbs. There was no panic in him just determination to keep up. But there was no way he was going to be able to do that.
Nick reached over and helped him with a gentle hand on his collar. Nick gave him an assist. I led Gibbs closer to the river bank where he gained his footing and continued to mange for himself. We helped him one more time as we made our trek back to the landing. He always looked up with eyes that said " I knew you had my back". He is a strong dog and like all of us just needed a little encouragement and a helping hand.

God tells us that we are to look to Him in times of trouble and in times where we need comfort. he is there to push us along and pull us when necessary.

Psalm 121 New King James Version (NKJV)

God the Help of Those Who Seek Him

A Song of Ascents.

121 I will lift up my eyes to the hills—
From whence comes my help?
My help comes from the Lord,
Who made heaven and earth.
He will not allow your foot to be moved;
He who keeps you will not slumber.
Behold, He who keeps Israel
Shall neither slumber nor sleep.
The Lord is your keeper;
The Lord is your shade at your right hand.
The sun shall not strike you by day,
Nor the moon by night.
The Lord shall preserve you from all evil;
He shall preserve your soul.
The Lord shall preserve your going out and your coming in
From this time forth, and even forevermore.

Reach out to God and let Him help you in your journey.

God bless,
Marty
