Good Morning,
My day began with prayer and it looks like this day will be a busy one for sure. The fireplace is crackling with a small fire with some of the left over wood from last year. A fire was needed again this morning and combined with a hot cup of Door County Country Morning Blend Coffee this old bag of bones is warming up pretty nicely.
Joel 1:14 Consecrate a fast, call a solemn assembly. Call the elders and all the inhabitants of the land to the house of the Lord your God, and cry out to the Lord.
Tonight after our Saturday evening church service we will gather together for an extended time of prayer. We actually call it our "Prayer Gathering". 15-20 people gather together and share prayer requests with one another and then pray for each one as the Holy Spirit leads us to do. Sometimes there are more people who attend but the core group remains the same. Most of my prayer life is spent alone, taking time with God to communicate my thoughts, desires, fears or concerns for others. I approach the throne of God humbly yet boldly in prayer and consider my prayer life God's gift. But to be honest I truly enjoy the time spent in corporate prayer with the others in the group of faithful prayer warriors. I listen to the requests and sometimes I am led to pray and at other times I am very pleased to just listen to the prayers of others. I will verbally agree with their prayers with heartfelt amen at the end of each prayer.
A lot of answered prayer requests have been experienced within that group and at times there have been answers of "not yet or no" from Heaven. But these faithful folks come on every last Saturday of the month to gather in prayer and experience God together. We don't snack, play games and then throw in a time of prayer. The whole time is devoted to prayer. Sometimes, since it is late when we finish, a few will go out to eat afterwards, but rarely does that happen.
Friends, can your family, friends, or church count on you to gather and pray for the needs of others? Do you devote time to prayer. I highly recommend gathering together specifically for prayer now and then or better yet on a scheduled basis. The fruit produced in prayer is immense and builds up one's faith in God.
So consider joining an established group or starting your own. You only need two people to start with!
Have a great and prayerful day.
Marty
