Traveling Way Too Slow 3/16/2021

 Good Morning,

I am writing while waiting on the sunrise. Next to me is a hot cup of Door County Sunrise Blend Coffee and some apple slices with peanut butter.

Colossians 4:2 Devote yourselves to prayer with an alert mind and thankful heart.

I do like to travel and see different places that God has created and for us to see and enjoy. My wife Rene and I made our first trip to the Grand Canyon many years ago. We drove from Wisconsin to Arizona in a pickup truck.  Back then we did not have the luxury of GPS navigational equipment. It was a map packet from Triple A (AAA) . So you allowed for the time to get to your destination and see some other sites along the way. We did make a stop in Texas for a very large steak. There were other points of interest where we took some time to stop and take in the sites. For instance we stopped for a couple hours in the Painted Desert.

During our trip, Rene remarked on how much easier it had to be driving a vehicle across country vs the "old days" of wagon trains, horses, or walking. Even with a few stops on the way we were in the Grand Canyon in three and a half days. That was our goal destination. We made it on time (actually ahead of time) and really enjoyed the next few days.

Friends, we go through life and along the way there are goals we set for ourselves or they could be set for us. There are also hardships that come along. And at times it seems like we will never travel fast enough, or on a navigable route. Have you ever thought that the route could be clearer or the goal more attainable of you weren't walking or running to your goal? I believe it is best to travel these days of goals or hardships on our knees.

Friends, we need to make sure that we take time to pray through these life trips. This isn't a panic button, but a true connection to God through the Holy Spirit. The way of prayer under the guidance of the Holy Spirit isn't always the well known route, but often takes the path that God chooses according to His knowledge of our needs. This route can be more surprising. But it is more encouraging when you travel it by faith. You will be guided into the presence of God by prayer. It will show you that God has this trip planned and you take it page by page as He reveals the way. Just like the old atlas maps. You had to stay on one page and complete it until the next page started.

Food for thought!

Marty
