Comfort These I Gave You 3/11/2021

 Good Morning,

Let's begin this day with prayer and decent thoughts all day long. I just poured a hot cup of Door County Autumn Spice Coffee and now it is time to write.

Isaiah 40 :1 Comfort, comfort my people, says your God

God at times calls many of us to comfort others. There are just times when people need to hear a kind word or see a pot of soup being delivered to their home. There is a time to pray with people in person, lifting up their cares to heaven. Maybe you are able to shovel snow and help someone out. There are many ways to comfort others, and sometimes it is as simple as listening.

I do know this for sure though. You need to be ready when God calls for you to provide comfort to others. This means be prepared. You can store up some comfort! Keep a supply of greeting cards that can be launched asap. Keep some soup frozen and be ready to thaw it out if you don't have time to make a fresh batch. Pray before you reach out. Ask God to show you what is needed in the way of comfort. Rene and I did that for a family once. I was rounding up beds and bedding for this family. Rene came and handed me a box full of towels, toiletries and freshly baked cookies, This was after we prayed. What kid doesn't want a cookie before bed? We were assisting others in helping to house a homeless family. In a million years I would never have thought about cookies and of course milk.

Comforting others takes energy. Ask God to give more life to your weary body. He will sustain you. Enlist others if it is feasible. Remember this. The people you are comforting were sent to you by God or you were sent to them. Nothing happens without God knowing about it. For a little while or maybe for a long time God gave you the ministry of comfort and He gave you the people. Don't miss the boat!

God bless,

Marty
