Watching For The Master 7/26/2024

 Good Morning,

It is still quite dark outside and the sun is starting to rise in the East, right on time. I have a hot cup of Door County Chocolate Raspberry Truffle Coffee at the desk with me and it is time to write.

1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 ESV But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about those who are asleep, that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope. 14. For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus God will bring Him those who have fallen asleep. 15. For this we declare to you by a word from the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep. 16. For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with a voice of an archangel and with a sound of the trumpet of God. 17. Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air, so we will always be with the Lord. 18. Therefore encourage one another with these words.

Yesterday we had the privilege of  having our nephew's dog Waylon stay with us the night before. We did this to allow Waylon to go for some extra training as he works to become a great hunting dog. So our home which normally has two dogs became a three ring circus. When Waylon comes for a visit he fits right in and is part of the family.

Our home is laid out differently from where he normally lives. Our front door has a side window to it and allows for the dogs to see out. The back patio door is full glass and offers a different view for the dogs to look at. Waylon does not have a window that affords gazing outside. They are all off of the ground.

We have noticed that when his master, Nick drops him off and things settle in, the puppy sits at the front door watching the world go by. He sleeps there on a welcome mat at night. I believe that he likes to just look out the window. But he also knows that this is the door Nick will come through to pick him up and take him home. That little guy just wants to be with his master. You can see the dedication and love they have for each other.

Friends, here is my thought for today. Someday Jesus will return and take the believers home. We won't know the day or the time. But when it happens we will be raptured into glory. As much as Waylon has fun with our two stooges and he really does run and play while here, he can't wait to go home. He is always looking out of the window in anticipation of Nick's return.

Do we look for the return of Jesus? Do we long to go home with Him? Are we ready to go? When Nick comes to pick up his dog, he finds him behaving and ready to go. If Jesus were to return today what would He find you doing? Would you be living a life that would not be shameful and living like you expect Jesus to return?

Food for thought.
