Good Morning,
The sun is shining through the window this morning and it is just beautiful. I just poured a hot mug of Door County Cherry Creme Coffee and it is time to write.
School graduations are now upon us. It is that time of year when we will be celebrating a few milestones with friends of ours who have children graduating from high school or college. From what I know those graduating within our scope of friends and family all have some pretty well mapped out plans for the future.
"An Arrow Not Aimed Will Never Hit Anything".
Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.
Now the graduates did not just wake up yesterday and say "here is my plan". These young men and women formed ideas and exhibited traits to their parents years ago. I watched a few grow up and they were active in school and society. They had solid hobbies and attended school faithfully. The parents saw the way the kids leaned toward and helped build upon that. You could say "they helped to aim the arrow." An arrow not aimed most often hits nothing. Time spent with your child or those in your circle of influence is very important. To find their interests and what they are bending toward and then help them obtain their goal is a duty and a privilege at the same time, especially for parents.
This starts at an early age and at times will last for 20 years or more. Some careers offer more choices later on.
Back in old testament times, bows and arrows were not manufactured in a precision type factory. They were hand made and each bow had a curve to it. The successful shooter knew how his or her bow was bent and then compensated by adjusting their aim right, or left.
It is easier to help aim a child in the right direction when we know how they are "bent" and what suits them personally. So as today goes my point is this. Help those under your influence to set goals toward the way they are bent. Help when you can by giving support toward that goal. It is important that they be aiming at something and going for it. A couch is not a career unless you are building them, designing them, selling them or are a psychiatrist.
Have a great day.
Marty
