Sending The Right Message 5/16/2023

 Good Morning,

We are home now, after a short vacation and as I sit down to write I am sipping on some hot Door County Cream Coffee. It was nice to be away, but it always nice to come home.

Colossians 4:6 Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you are to answer each person.

Ephesians 4:29 Let no corrupting talk come from you mouths, but only such is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it gives grace to those who hear.

There are so many social media platforms now and so many different ways to communicate that it is hard to know which methods to use. But whether it is electronic or snail mail it is always the best practice to draft your message to someone and then wait to send it. Read the message a couple more times or more before you drop it in a mail box or hit the send button. This is most important when you find yourself angry with the person you are going to send the message to. Take time to let the yourself calm down and take a moment to pray about your response. Once that message is mailed or sent, it is out there and usually cannot be recalled. I heard about an app that allows for stopping a text message from opening after you sent it. I wouldn't count on it being totally safe. Once that message hits the "Cloud" it is there and someone has the savvy to retrieve it.

Here is my point, frustration and anger on our plates does not always make good partners in the way we communicate. Sometimes the best messages are the ones that were never sent. When ironing out differences I believe the in person method is the best. If you feel that emotions are riding high, walk away and cool off. Pray and if needed seek a mediator. Don't act when emotions are high.

Send the right message!

God bless,

Marty
