Good Morning,
It's time to write again and welcome all of you to Monday. I am headed North this morning for work and it will be a long day, so my Thermos bottle is filled with Door County Caramel Latte Coffee for the long haul.
James 1:22 Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves, Do what it says.
I do believe that at my age a hearing check up is necessary every year or at least every other year. At this time my hearing is still very good. So take care of your ears!
That's not really the lesson of the day. I want to talk about those who attend church and listen to well prepared anointed sermons. Maybe on weekdays these same folks tune into the radio and listen to Bible passages as they drive. I would also like to include reading a Bible in these thoughts. Think about it like this. We hear or read the Word of God, yet we nod our heads in agreement and then never do what it says to do.
Gaining knowledge or a word from God and not applying it or using it as specified, is merely deceiving yourself into believing that you are walking with God in close fashion. Instead you are very far from the Truth. You are as close to God as you choose to be. No one puts toothpaste on a brush just to look at it. Your ears are fine. They listen, but you lack the motivation to apply what you hear.
So today, apply what you hear or read from God and see if all of a sudden you aren't walking a lot closer with Him
Food for thought,
Marty
