Good Morning,
It's nice and quiet in the resort where we are staying. I feel like I am at peace and rested. I just poured a hot cup of Door County Wisconsin Harvest Blend Coffee and it is time to write.
It has been a long time since I had the battle of wills with a two year old. But one thing I recall vividly, whether it was our daughter or our grandson, two year old kids can be strong willed and usually want things done "their way". They develop very soon in life the desire to control their surroundings, eating habits, bedtime, and what they want to wear. I have witnessed a temper tantrum or two when these little ones don't get their way and decide to let you know who's boss, despite the fact that you know better. These outbursts of will may have been responded to with a swat on the backside or a stern talking to in the grocery store.
I am not sure that we ever completely lose the " I know better syndrome" in our lives. We are especially stupid when we believe that God (Our Heavenly Father) does not get miffed when we disobey and want things "our way."
Let me give you some breaking news. God does know better on everything than we do. In addition, He is a patient loving God. But you can only push Him so far. Like every good parent, He instructs us on what is right and wrong and He warns us of the consequences and what not to do.
Hebrews 4:7-11 God again, set a certain day, calling it today! This he did when a long time later, He spoke through David: "Today if you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts."
God warns us and we are expected to listen and obey.
Nahum 1:2-6 The Lord is a jealous God, filled with vengeance and rage. He takes revenge on all who oppose Him and continues to rage against all who oppose Him. 3. The Lord is slow to anger, but His power is great, and He never let's the guilty go unpunished. He displays His power in the whirlwind and the storm. The billowing clouds are the dust at His feet. 4. At His command oceans dry up and rivers disappear. 5. In His presence the mountains quake, and hills melt away, the earth trembles. 6. Who can withstand His fierce anger? Who can survive His burning fury? His rage blazes in the fire. The mountains crumble at His will.
I believe we have been warned. But we will look at others and their sins instead of looking at our own unchecked wills and the sins we like to keep. We want it our way!
Marty
