The Grief Of Loss. 10/21/2015

Good Morning,

My coffee this morning is Door County Caramel Apple. I am not exactly too cheery this day. Yesterday our church lost a good friend and brother to heaven. Heaven's gain is our loss. My heart and sympathy go to the family. My joy is for my dear brother in Christ who now sees the glory of heaven and the One who died for us all.

John 11:21New International Version - UK (NIVUK)
21 ‘Lord,’ Martha said to Jesus, ‘if you had been here, my brother would not have died.

When Jesus arrived to the home of Martha and Mary, Martha let Jesus know exactly how she felt and what was on her mind. The death of a loved one always comes hard and is still a shock even when death comes after a long terminal illness. Death is never invited and is always a shock no matter when it happens. Martha was in shock.

We will all go through a grieving process when someone we love experiences death and we see them temporarily no more. Death is a cruel reality of life. An emptiness fills us and there is suddenly a void that had always been filled before. It is hard for us to make peace with this. We are in shock at this time.

During this time, friends and family really don't know what to say or do to console those who have experienced the greater loss.
Just be there for them as they request and need. If they want to talk, listen. Assure them that it is not wrong to be sad. Be practical and meet the real needs of the moment.

For those grieving the loss, God knows you inside and out. He knows your heart and understands that the source of your grief and sorrow is love. God will strengthen you through the Holy Spirit to battle this loss and to overcome in Jesus name.

Herman Hooker wrote.. "Death is as the foreshadowing of life. We die that we may die no more."

Love to all.

Marty
