Helping The Poor In Spirit 10/30/2015

Good Morning,

Friday arrived right on time. To celebrate the start of the weekend I brewed a pot of Door County Pumpkin Spice Coffee. Lets get going!

Proverbs 14:21New International Version (NIV)
21 It is a sin to despise one’s neighbor,
but blessed is the one who is kind to the needy.

There are times in everyone's life that we become poor in spirit. People become needy souls, possibly because of a death, loss of a job, wayward family members, finances run amuck or are own poor health. We want to help those in need. Let me suggest one method to help. True compassion for the poor in spirit doesn't lie as much in words as in quiet togetherness. It begins by being there for others so that when they reach their limit, the bottled up feelings can be set free without guilt or shame. They can fly in a torrent of  liberating words and tears. Knowing that there is a friend that will listen, or cry with you is better than a thousand soothing words. Just making yourself available to listen  and serve as a resource if needed is helping the poor in spirit.

So today, don't pass by a sad face. Maybe you were sent to brighten their day.

Marty
