My coffee this morning was Door County Cinnamon Sugar Biscotti. It was especially nice today because I was able to share the morning java with visiting family members.
As I was preparing breakfast for our visitors early this morning I was listening to the Country Western versions of old Gospel Hymns. I enjoyed the "Old Rugged Cross", "He Touched Me", and others. To be honest with you, that is pretty much the norm for me. Everyone has their own taste in music that they would prefer to listen to and worship with. But I want to point out one style of music that I think we can all agree on. The music of family and friends together enjoying a breakfast early on a Sunday Morning can be sung and played in any key. The two of us have had an empty nest for a lot of years. So visitors are always welcome and we enjoy the conversation that is had and just the noise of a busy kitchen. This is music for the soul. The crunch of Cheerios, or the crackle of bacon frying, the coffee gurgling, add some laughter and the please and thank you, or pass the bacon and you have a concert of hospitality and love. I think that we can all agree that the music of love and hospitality is a great way to prepare for Sunday worship. You see God at work during these times. He provided everything to eat and a roof to eat under. God created family and wants us to have friends.
This is music, music, music.
2 Kings 4:8
Now there came a day when Elisha passed over to Shunem, where there was a prominent woman, and she persuaded him to eat food. And so it was, as often as he passed by, he turned in there to eat food.
Enjoy your Sundays. Let them start early. Eat breakfast with someone.
God bless,
Marty
