My coffee today is Door County Cinnamon Sugar Biscotti. The blog is a little late today. Last night after our Saturday evening church service a large group of us went to the shore of lake Michigan for a late picnic and to watch a fireworks display sponsored by our Italian Community during their annual festival. It went quite late and so I am moving slow today. It was a great time of fellowship and food.
Well it's that time of the year. When the small boat comes from the backyard to the front, duck season is right around the corner. I am blessed to have two boats, one is larger than the one in this picture. This smaller one is in need of a little paint touch up and the trailer needs some work on the lights. In order to have a safe and hopefully productive duck and goose season some preparation time has to be done to make sure everything is in order. Each of my boats has a license. The license has three parts. One part is a card that needs to be carried by the owner of the boat. The second part is a decal that must be affixed to the boat like a license plate for a car. The last part is the license number must be painted on both sides of the boat so it can easily be identified by authorities. This boat has all three but the painted part has faded and cannot be easily seen. It needs to be touched up. It can't be used until that is completed.
Romans 12:1-2 New Living Translation (NLT)
A Living Sacrifice to God
12 And so, dear brothers and sisters,[a] I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him.[b] 2 Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.
Christian Friends, is your license visible? Can others see Jesus in you? Can you be spotted as one who is involved at your church? Can others tell by your actions if you belong to Jesus? Or have you faded into obscurity? You belong but it hardly shows. Well then it's time for a touch up. Dust off that Bible. Get into it and pray. Ask God to show you what needs touching up and then do it. Most of all get involved. I can paint that boat and call myself a duck hunter, but if the boat never hits the water there won't be any ducks in the freezer. The word Christian is a noun. I suggest that we also think of the title as a verb which means we are to be in action for Jesus.
How about getting ready? Are you willing to get dusted off, shined up and back into the world for Jesus today?
Smile I know this just hit home!
God bless,
Marty
