Dog Tired 9/18/2024

 Good Morning,

My cup of Door County Old Fashioned Coffee is still steaming next to me and it's just a little too hot to drink. I miscalculated that one!

Each day we are given a new dose of responsibilities or duties. The next 24 hours are ours to manage and do the best we can to complete the day in good order. Some folks at the end of the day claim to be "Dog Tired". This expression of being dog tired might be derived from the fact that a dog can sleep all day, get some exercise and then sleep again. I am not really sure of the total meaning of the expression. But for this morning's blog my definition works for me.

We have around us a lot of over achievers who are extremely tired at the end of a day just because they have their own business to take care of and then they take on the shoes of God. They sit back and judge everyone and anyone. They take one look at a situation and then pull out their bag of judgements. Judgmental quotes spew from their mouths like popcorn from a theater popcorn machine.

Luke 6:37-38 NIV 37. Do not judge and you will not be judged. Do not condemn and you will not be condemned. Forgive and you will be forgiven. 38. Give and it will be given to you. A good measure pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.

Expressions like. "They should have done this". "They probably did this and now look at how they live.." "They should have taken better care of themselves". "If those were my kids!" "They will probably drink it away". "Why don't they just do this? "

People at the end of the day have to be tired from thinking they are God. They carry the heavy scales of judgement with them all day long and their little shop of judgement stays open 24/7.

Save some wear and tear on your own minds and hearts. Let God do the judging. You do what you can to avoid being judged yourself.

Food for thought. As some of you read this today, you are judging me for what I said or didn't say!

God bless,

Marty
