Wise Enough? 5/22/2024

 Good Morning,

My day began with a hot cup of Door County Jamaican Me crazy Coffee and It's off to work I go. I am counting down the days to full retirement. It won't be long now.

In my Bible reading, whenever I read about Kind Solomon who was the son of King David, I am always impressed with the big choice he made early in his role as king.

1Kings 3:5-10 ESV At Gibeon the Lord appeared to Solomon in a dream by night, and God said," Ask what I shall give you." 6. And Solomon said, "You have shown great and steadfast love to your servant David my father, because he walked before you in faithfulness, in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart toward You. And you have kept for him this great and steadfast love and have given him a son to sit on his throne this day. 7. And now, O Lord my God, you have made your servant king in place of David my father, although I am but just a little child. I do not how how to go our or come in. 8. And your servant is in the midst of your people, whom you have chosen, a great people, too many to be numbered or counted for multitude. 9. Give your servant therefore an understanding mind to govern your people, that I may discern between good and evil, for who is able to govern this your great people?'

10. It pleased the Lord that Solomon had asked this.

Solomon could have asked God for gold, silver, livestock, a mansion and many other things. Yet he chose wisdom to be able to serve the Lord and His people. In my mind, Solomon was already wise. He saw the task that he was given and desired to do a good job at it. Instead of riches he chose wisdom.

Given a choice to serve the Lord raises a question or two.

1. Worldly goods or service to God?

2. Worldly goods or wisdom to serve better?

Solomon chose wisdom and it pleased God. My prayer today is for all of us to make Godly decisions without expecting anything in return. As we look at choices, would God be pleased with ours.?

A wise person would want more wisdom!
