Good Morning,
A hot mug of Door County Churro Coffee awaits me later and for now, it is time to write.
Last night the television and our phones gave us the emergency signal signifying that we were in the zone for a tornado to possibly visit the area. The warning said that the conditions were ripe for a tornado and some rotations had been seen in the clouds.
Romans 13:1 ESV Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except for God, and those that exist have been instituted by God.
We were advised to take shelter. We have a small area in our basement that is designated as our shelter. It is equipped with an emergency radio, flashlights, water, a whistle and a strobe lamp. My wife and I headed downstairs as advised. Our dog was with us and was on a leash so he would not wander off. It is his usual habit when the weather gets freaky, to hide under a bed. We made sure he was with us.
I am sure many people just blew off the warning, and went about life as usual. I figure it this way. We were advised to take shelter and what harm did taking shelter do? I like to be safe, than sorry later. While in our small place of refuge we prayed for there not to be any tornadoes, and we prayed for our neighbors.
Once the threat was gone, we put everything back in it's place. Always there , but hopefully not needed.
My point for the day is this. The announcement of impending danger was issued to protect us and it only makes sense to follow along and obey the advice of those who are paid to look out for us. I recall the real thing coming through our subdivision many years ago and as I look out the window of our den, I look at our neighbor's home. That tornado spared our home but took off the second story of their home. Fortunately they were not home at the time. So my friends, it does happen and not always, many miles away. Listen to warnings and heed the advice. It might just save a life. Yours!
Marty
