A Candle Without Light 8/5/2015

Good Morning,

I am awake, barely and my cup of Door County Red Velvet Mocha Coffee needs to kick in. It seems that overnight I have developed a summer cold. Many of my co-workers are fighting this same nemesis off also. Could use a little prayer.
Rene loves her antiques. Many are on display but rarely used. The candle holder above might have actually been used to hold lit candles by previous owners but has never seen a flame in our home. I have often remarked that we own more treasures with great potential for use, but have the most unused treasures. This candle piece, except for show is pretty much useless, unless lit, and allowed to illuminate a room. Boy, this sounds like I have declared war on her collections. Not really, just making a point. Many homes contain a few Bibles or more. But, unless opened and allowed to illuminate one's heart and mind with God's word they are no better than this candle set. Nice to see, but useless.

2 Timothy 3:16-17New King James Version (NKJV)
16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.

It is important for every Christian to feast on God's Word daily. We need spiritual nourishment every day just as much as we need water or food.

Matthew 4:4New King James Version (NKJV)
But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’”

Pull out your Bible, dust it off, open it and enjoy a feast of wisdom, love and understanding like you haven't had in a long time.

God bless,
Marty
