The Cake Top 7/16/2015

Good Morning,

Thursday it is! God served up another day for us to be blessings to others. How is that working for you? My mug is filled with Door County Raspberry Crunch Coffee.

Matthew 5:13-16

13 Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.
14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.
16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

The picture above is the top from our wedding cake. It wasn't one we purchased, but one we made. A few friends helped us along the way. Despite it being a little untraditional you knew that the cake was definitely a wedding cake. Without the cake top, the cake really could have been for anything.

Christians have the indwelling of the Holy Spirit that leads us into all truth. Christians also have the assurance of an eternal life in heaven through Jesus Christ. This should stand out and be noticeable to the rest of the world. The light within is the Holy Spirit who is always working to lead others to Jesus. Yet, many times it is hard to see this blessed assurance in Christians because we let the world swallow up our joy and we walk through life like everyone else not shining with our blessed assurance showing. It is sometimes very hard to spot Christians in the middle of a group because we have chosen the back wall to hide or avoid telling others where they can find a relationship with Jesus. Our lights don't shine and we are like cakes without tops. Good on the outside but without a purpose statement.

So today let the love of Jesus shine from you to others. Make a difference in their life. Let them see the cake top and start to desire the filling!

Have a cake kind of day.

Marty
