In the Still Of The Night 7/26/2015

Good Morning,

I am sitting at my desk, looking out the window at a hazy morning, with the sun just starting to rise. All is quiet in the house except for the coffee pot as it brews my morning cup of Door County White Christmas Coffee. That will be the last Christmas in July cup for me. Where o where is Christmas?

Psalm 121

A song of ascents.

I lift up my eyes to the mountains—
    where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord,
    the Maker of heaven and earth.
He will not let your foot slip—
    he who watches over you will not slumber;
indeed, he who watches over Israel
    will neither slumber nor sleep.
The Lord watches over you—
    the Lord is your shade at your right hand;
the sun will not harm you by day,
    nor the moon by night.
The Lord will keep you from all harm
    he will watch over your life;
the Lord will watch over your coming and going
    both now and forevermore

Last night I went to bed early. Exhaustion took over and it was only a few seconds after my head hit the pillow that I was sound asleep. About 2 AM I awoke with my head clear and my eyes wide open. The Holy Spirit laid on my heart to pray for someone right there and now. I really don't argue with God over such matters even when it interrupts the best sleep I have had in weeks. Shortly after praying I was back asleep but knew I had spent some intense time with God. I rested knowing that despite His timing our God doesn't sleep. He is aware of where I am 24 hours a day. The experience also reminded me of a vow I had made many years ago to the Lord. "Anytime, anywhere, just call, and I will answer and go". Vows are made to be kept.

The best rest is the rest God gives after He calls and you say yes Lord.

Have a wonderful day!

Marty
