An Approved Fence 11/26/2021

 Good Moring,

No coffee for me today, lab work needs to be done and an appointment for breakfast I had for earlier was cancelled. So it's off to work for a bit and then some lab work.

My wife and I had a need to to fence in our yard due to the intrusion of coyotes on a regular basis. Our two hunting dogs were not safe at times while outside at night. Our youngest dog also has a tendency to roam outside of his boundaries. It was very clear after some close calls that a fence was needed.

We started pursuing a contractor to erect a fence for us. That process took about three months. Once we had a plan and a quote we could go to our city and apply for a permit. That process took a little fight to get a fence and in the long run a compromise of the exact location of the fence with the city was agreed upon. Now it was winter and the fence had to wait until spring. The next hurdle was the "supply chain". Lumber and fencing was not available through the spring and summer. Fall arrived and it still wasn't looking too good. The next hurdle was a choice that had to be made. We ordered a four foot fence and that was what was approved by the city. The only fencing and lumber available was 6 foot panels, which was going to cost more. By this time I was just about going to quit on the whole idea. Rene and I prayed about it, and agreed to go ahead and spend more and take a six foot fence. The project was completed and we were satisfied with the work. We paid the bill and then pursued a fence inspection. That took another three weeks to achieve. The day came, it was rainy mixed with a few snow flakes and our fence was inspected and approved. The project from start to finish was a year and a half.

My point today is this. Patience was needed. I forgot to mention "Covid". The fence crew had covid run through the crew and that also delayed things at least a month.

Ecclesiastes 7:8 Better is the end of a thing, than it's beginning, and the patient in spirit is better than the proud spirit.

There were times in this project that I just wanted to quit, get my down payment back, scream at the city, I even considered moving to a new location.

But the fence is in now. It is paid for. The dogs are safe and we have more privacy. So in the long run it was worth waiting for.   I had to be patient.

Marty
