The Block I've Been Around 1/4/2016

Good Morning,

It was a great service last night at church, a fun movie and burger with Rene afterwards and now a cup of Door County Apple Cobbler Coffee next to the fireplace. I was able to start the fire quickly this morning with the help of a few red embers left over in the hearth from last night.

Lamentations 3:22-23 ESV
The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.

The Christmas tree is still up and will be for a couple more weeks. Rene hates to let go of Christmas.

Let me tell you about a block that I've been around. We often use that phrase to describe one's vast amount of experience or one's lack of experience. " They haven't been around the block yet". As a child this was the goal of any young boy or girl, to be told you were big enough to ride your bike or walk around the block. You were finally old enough to explore the unknown wonders that lived around the street corner. At my age I have been around the block, through the woods, with experiences too many to mention.

The "Block Of Regrets" This block is the one of choices that were made, and shouldn't have been, choices that should have been made and weren't.  We all have been on this block. If I had never grown enough to be allowed to leave block that we lived on as a child I would never have experienced buying my first ice cream cone at Tasty Freeze with money I had in my own pocket.

Regrets seem to have a way of holding people in place and not allowing them to move forward. I recently spoke with a person who lost their spouse and was told how much they regretted not spending more time with their spouse while she was alive. Now that person can hole up and live on  the block of regret or spend more time with the family that he has left. Regret is also an opportunity to grow and not make the same mistakes. I have been there, unfortunately too often. You can't change the past, but you can impact your ability not to make the same mistakes and live the regrets all over.

The past has many beautiful memories for all of us. But it isn't a good place to live. Because when you continue to live in the past, you miss the present and future. That's why God gives us a life that is broken into hours, days and years. He doesn't give us just one super long day.

Go ahead and venture past the block of regrets, Move forward and face a new day. Learn from the mistakes of the days gone by. Enjoy life and let others enjoy you.

God bless,

Marty
