When The Nest Is Empty 8/11/2014

Good Morning,

I hope today is all you want it to be. I started this day with a big cup of Door County Cherry Crème Coffee. Yesterday was such a nice day. We had a great picnic with family and friends. I can still taste the salmon pate that a friend of ours made.

Those of us who have raised children know what a blessing they are to have. You baby them for the first couple of years, and then they start to show more and more independence. They want to start picking out their own clothes and choosing their activities. You teach them all that you know, but before you can blink there comes that time when they leave the home nest and go out on their own. We realize that the day will come some day and that is why we teach them all that we have learned and were taught by our own parents. You have from day one been preparing them to leave.

But then what! The nest is empty and you have to wait for visits that are too few and far between.
You now have time to give again. The kids will be back for a visit and you will visit them. But now you have time to go on a short term mission trip. Before you are too old, you can use that extra time to make a difference in eternity. You can for a week or ten days meet another family or families that would love to be with you.

You will find yourself showing pictures of your family to your new friends. You will later be showing photos of your new friends to your family. Give a week and cook in a camp for physically challenged kids. Experience the freedom to be on your own new journey.

Joshua 1:9 ESV
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

The nest is empty, Fly again before your wings tire.

God bless,

Marty
