Up On The Roof 8/8/2014

Good Morning,

Happy Friday to all. I pray that you will find rest for your tired bodies. I pray also that your time with God is more than you hoped for. I  just filled my cup with Door County Hawaiian Hazelnut Coffee. So let's get this Friday started.

There is an old song from the sixties "Up on The Roof". The lyrics speak of escaping to the roof of a tall building where the singer relaxes and the area is trouble proof.

Yesterday I had the opportunity during my day to walk out on to the roof of the hospital where I work. The experience was work related but yet that song popped into my head. The hospital is very tall and the skies were clear. The air was fresh with a slight breeze. I took a moment to turn around 360 degrees slowly and take in the view. It seemed like I could see for miles. I thanked God for the view, the breeze, the air and the sky. I was only there for five minutes but those five minutes recharged me and made me thankful for what I just took in. During that five minutes of quiet and peace, Psalm 23 became alive to me and I knew I wasn't alone up there. God knows where we are at all times. He prepared those five minutes for me.

Psalm 23 New King James Version (NKJV)

The Lord the Shepherd of His People

A Psalm of David.

23 The Lord is my shepherd;
I shall not want.
He makes me to lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside the still waters.
He restores my soul;
He leads me in the paths of righteousness
For His name’s sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil;
For You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
You anoint my head with oil;
My cup runs over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
All the days of my life;
And I will dwell[a] in the house of the Lord
Forever

Where is your roof top moment going to be today? God is with you. Take 5 minutes to enjoy His presence and recharge.

God bless,
Marty
