Refinishing a Cabinet 8/13/2014

Good Morning,

Happy Wednesday to all. The middle of the week and my coffee this morning will be none. Having a little lab work done today which requires fasting and coffee is not on the menu. Later I will have some of the hospital blend which won't compare to the Door County Cinnamon Sugar Biscotti I could have had.

Our house is now twenty years old and is requiring some work. Upstairs we have a cabinet that was purchased when we moved in many years ago. It is a beautiful piece of Amish furniture but is now requiring a couple fresh coats of varnish. I should be finished with the task tonight or tomorrow. Last night I applied the first coat and although it looked good I can't leave it with just one. It won't look as good as it could and would fade sooner than later. The oak needs to be sealed in order to last. I will post a picture within a day or two.

Solid wood furniture is a lot like people. The furniture sealing gets started. Then it dries and the next day needs to be lightly sanded and another coat of varnish gets applied. I said it will take two coats but if it doesn't look right at two it will get three or four. Each coat requires sanding to remove any blemishes.

That is what God does with us. He starts by sealing our salvation through Jesus Christ His Son. He sands us from time to time and applies more faith varnish with the Holy Spirit. He keeps on working and sees us grow all the way to completion in heaven. We are a work in progress. Sometimes like a strong varnish we stink up the room with sin and then God sands us with loving correction and keeps on working toward the finished product. He never quits.

Philippians 1:1-6

Paul and Timothy, bondservants of Jesus Christ,
To all the saints in Christ Jesus who are in Philippi, with the bishops and deacons:
Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Thankfulness and Prayer

I thank my God upon every remembrance of you, always in every prayer of mine making request for you all with joy, for your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ;

So enjoy the day and know that God isn't finished with you yet. You are a Masterpiece not completed yet with a value worth dying for. Jesus proved that.

God bless,
Marty
