No One Home 8/12/2014

Good Morning,

May your day be blessed from above. Today is a Door County Peanut Butter Crunch Coffee kind of day. I am looking forward to meeting with some friends tonight. But first I need to get through the day.

Many times when a package arrives to our house we are not home. We arrive to the house after work to see a note attached to our door saying, "We tried to deliver a package too this address today. No one was home. Please call ############ and make arrangements for our delivery person to return when someone can receive the package and sign for the delivery".

And I always wonder why they try to deliver during working hours when most people are at work or school!!! It just doesn't make sense to go through the motions twice. Call ahead, leave a message and make a delivery date.

It's the same way with Christianity. We expect others to respond to the Good News of Jesus Christ on cue. In all reality, many times they are not ready. The porch light is on in their heart but really no one is home to answer the door.

We must be patient like the delivery people and try again and again until the message is received or turned away. But remember like the delivery person we might have to make an appointment on their time. We might have to meet them on their grounds. This means we have to be flexible and willing to go wherever, whenever. We also must exhibit patience. This is difficult for all of us who live in a fast paced world.

Patience is one of the most difficult virtues to have. Life forces us to wait and be patient for many things, and it often proves most difficult. So what does God's Word say about patience?

    Psalms 46:10 Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.
    Isaiah 40:31 But they that wait on the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
    Romans 5:3 And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation works patience;
    Galatians 6:9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.
    James 1:19 Why, my beloved brothers, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:
    James 5:7 Be patient therefore, brothers, to the coming of the Lord. Behold, the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, and has long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain.
    James 5:8 Be you also patient; establish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draws near.

    So if you need to wait, pray, listen and witness over and over again. God understands and requires for us to be patient. After all isn't He patient with us?

    God bless,

    Marty
