Good Morning,
It is a little cold in the house. But it's nothing that a small fire in the fireplace can't solve. I pored myself a large mug of Door County Toffee Pretzel Coffee and I am already warming up. It is time to write.
Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.
Proverbs 3:6 In all your ways acknowledge Him and he will make straight your paths.

For the last couple of days I have been helping a dear friend change out the water lines in his house. The piping had started leaking due to age and it was time to start replacing the old galvanized ones with new ones. Prior to starting the job on Friday night and yesterday we prayed asking God to watch over us and refresh my plumbing skills which at best aren't used much anymore. We also asked for wisdom as to what changes might need to be made. It actually wasn't going too bad and due to the compact size of the house it was difficult to get at some of the work.
We made a decision to stop the work at a certain point and reconnect some of the new piping to some of the existing pipes for now. The plan was to continue the work when he remodels the bathroom and the walls would be open. Now mind you we prayed for no leaks in our work and once we tested our new piping we found that a piece of the existing old piping was leaking. It was a slow drip. At first I felt dejected and upset. This meant we needed to reschedule for later today and tackle some more of the piping. I felt bad for my friend. But after praying about it last night I saw the light. The pipe we are replacing today is in bad shape. Had it not started weeping a few drops and causing me to look at it closely and see that this pipe would burst soon we would have walked away from the job leaving a potential hazard in "wait mode" to cause trouble on another day. I believe God has protected us from a disaster. So our prayers were answered. We prayed for no water leaks and God exposed a big problem by giving us a water leak, showing us that we needed to go further. We were blessed to have a leak in the pipes!
Now and then we pray and despite what we ask for God gives us what we truly need. It's nice to know that God loves us enough to protect us from ourselves and shows us at times what we don't know.
So today we will have round three with that plumbing and we will pray again before we start and we will count on the Master of all plumbing to lead the way! In all things big or small, pray without ceasing and trust that God knows best.

I thought the pic of that wrench looked to new than saw the credit to wikpedia
ReplyDeleteSo true Marty, so true. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteI love it when God answers our prayers, but not in the way we expect. It's a good reminder of how great He is, and how small we are.
ReplyDeleteAlso, it's good to remember that His ways, are not our ways.
Amen!
