Rehearsing For A Tragedy 2/3/2023

 Good Morning,

Friday has arrived right on time and except for a few hours of work my weekend has begun. I just poured a hot cup of Door County Pumpkin Spice Coffee and now it is time to write.

Colossians 3:15 And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful.

When it comes to life there are plenty of tragedies to go around. Yet there are plenty of times when the tragedy we worry about never happens. An example of what I am speaking of would be something like this. My wife Rene is not one to carry her cell phone with her while out in our yard. At times she borders on irresponsible as far as answering the phone. She is also a type one diabetic, dependent on insulin. She is very good with keeping her sugar levels in line, but there have been a few low sugar alarms in her life and couple were a little bit scary. Back to describing her. She is not a chatty person and not the best in the communications category. She's mine and I lover her and she is improving on checking in once and awhile.

So when I give her a call to check in and see if she needs anything to be done or picked up on my way home and she doesn't respond after a few calls, my mind wanders to a picture of my wife on the floor looking for her insulin emergency pen. Later I find out that she has her ear buds in  and she was outside asleep in the sun, catching a tan, and still hasn't figured out that her phone can be set to vibrate.

You see how Satan works? Even though there was no tragedy, he takes us to a point of increased blood pressure and anxiety by having us rehearse a tragedy in our minds. We tend to fall for his ploy very often.

You all know how some moms will create a gun tragedy in their minds when their child goes hunting for the first time. Satan wins just by adding worries to our life.

Yes real tragedies happen and unfortunately we need to deal with them when they occur. God will carry us through each pit of turmoil. But it is not good to rehearse the what if's and play a potential tragedy in our mind and let it gain control of our actions to the point we take time making ourselves sick with worry.

Food for thought. Are you rehearsing tragedies or planning weddings, graduations, or birthday parties?
