Good Morning.
A hot steaming cup of Door County Chocolate Raspberry Truffle Coffee is sitting in front of me at my desk and it is time to write.
Jeremiah 33:3 Call out to me and I will answer you and show you great and mighty things.
All last week we have been praying for a missing teen who has ties to our church. It was a long week of prayer and people searching for her. Last night a prayer vigil was organized and one of the pastors from our church was going to lead the event. My wife, our neighbor and I rode together to the event. On our way to the event my phone rang and it was our pastor. He asked me this question, "Did you hear'? My heart sank as well as my wife's and our neighbors heart. I replied "hear what?". He went on to explain that this the little lady had been found alive. We were thrilled and kept going to the site of the vigil. What was probably going to be a very somber prayer time turned into a worship and praise time. Many people had been praying endless hours for this teen. Hours of agony were upon her family and what was to be a powerful prayer time, yet a somber time, had still more tears , but they were tears of joy and relief.
My message for today is this. If you do not belong to a praying church join one. God answers prayers in different ways and we don't always get the answer we want. Sometimes the answer is no. Our pastor explained to all of us that the key to prayer is trusting God even when He says no. Can you stay awake and pray through the night when needed? Do you look up before you look down? We would have been total idiots to just cancel the prayer vigil and not take time to be thankful and praise God. I will always be on the team of prayer even when the answer is no. I have to trust that He has a plan for my life and the life of others. But it is times like last night when we thought we were defeated more prayer was all we needed.
I celebrate today!
Marty
