Good Morning,
The Door County Peanut Butter Crunch Coffee in my cup is plenty hot this morning and it is time to write.
There always comes a time when we need to exercise our ability to say no. Saying no is not always easy to do. When we do say no, we often feel the need to explain why we said no. We add a long explanation to No. At times the explanation runs on and on which then adds hope to the other party that you might change your mind.
Matthew 5:37 Let what you say be simply yes or no.
If an answer to an invitation for anything needs to be no, the answer should be brief and be done with respect, honesty and with enough time that allows others to adjust to the situation. Waiting for the last second to say no might put the other party into a tail spin of sorts.
We also need to remember that it is ok to say no. Being somewhere or doing something that you really don't want any part of is something that at times you cannot hide well enough. Facial expressions and body language will give you away every time. Honestly with kindness and respect is always the best policy when you have to say no.
Food for thought?
Marty
