What Is The Church? 1/13/2023

 Good Morning,

I started this day with some prayer and a large, hot cup of Door County Vanilla Creme Brulee Coffee. Friday showed up on time and now it is time to write.

The word church in the Bible comes from the Greek word ecclesia. which means called out people or assembly.

I can tell you what a church really isn't. It might be aa small building in the country. It might be a rented storefront building in the ghetto.  It could be a basilica in a large city. But to be honest those are just buildings. What the church really is are the people inside, who confess Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. A place where the love of Jesus is shown to all. A place where people can freely worship God. Where the Bible is taught and practiced. Where souls are nourished and children are taught. A building where it is ok to cry and laugh at the same time. A place where forgiving is not a bad word, but is embraced. A place where faith in God grows and people fellowship with one another. A place where lives are transformed and music restored to souls where there were once hearts of stone.

Whenever I used to hear the word church, my mind always took me to a place that envisioned a building. Now, later in life I have come to realize that the building isn't the church. The church is really the people that use the building.

Food for thought! Your church might be missing you!

Marty
