Ut's time to wake up and smell the Door County Cinnamon Hazelnut Coffee. I for one will have another cup on my way to work.
There are many passages in Scripture where we see Godly men exhibit some real manly traits. For instance King David taking on Goliath and giving him a butt kicking. We see Jesus as the ultimate tough guy just before His crucifixion and during his ordeal on the cross. That was the ultimate in manliness when He could have saved Himself yet He stayed on the cross for the love of us, enduring great pain and sorrow.
1 Samuel 17:34-36 New International Version (NIV)
34 But David said to Saul, “Your servant has been keeping his father’s sheep. When a lion or a bear came and carried off a sheep from the flock, 35 I went after it, struck it and rescued the sheep from its mouth. When it turned on me, I seized it by its hair, struck it and killed it. 36 Your servant has killed both the lion and the bear; this uncircumcised Philistine will be like one of them, because he has defied the armies of the living God.But listen here tough guys. Jesus was also the perfect example of kindness, meekness, tenderness, sensitivity and compassion. Jesus had people bring small children to Him and He prayed for them. He comforted a wayward prostitute. He healed the lame and spent long hours doing so. He saw a need for people to eat and then fed thousands. He took care of His mother from the cross, while being in great pain. He also wept over the death of a friend.
John 19:25-27 New King James Version (NKJV)
25 Now there stood by the cross of Jesus His mother, and His mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene. 26 When Jesus therefore saw His mother, and the disciple whom He loved standing by, He said to His mother, “Woman, behold your son!” 27 Then He said to the disciple, “Behold your mother!” And from that hour that disciple took her to his own home
Jesus was the ultimate model of a man. He was tough, true and sensitive. Guys if we do anything today, shouldn't we try to imitate Jesus?
Think about it. If you were to die today, How would people describe you? Would it be "One tough kind and gentle man"?
