Lord, Do You Know What Time It Is? 5/7/2016

Good Morning,

It is still cool enough to enjoy a fireplace that is throwing off some heat. We are situated very close to the shore of Lake Michigan and the cold water has placed a chill in the air. The fireplace has taken the bite out of the air.I am enjoying a cup of Door County Chocolate Raspberry Truffle Coffee as I write on this fine morning.

Today we will discuss how to know where you should be going according to God's will. This is applied to you personally, your family and your church. God takes the initiative to do His will.

Philippians 2:13

13 for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.

The Holy Spirit guides you to pray according to God's will.

Romans 8:26-28

26 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us  through     wordless groans. 27 And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.
28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who[a] have been called according to his purpose
This God-centered approach is to allow us to allow God to lead us to pray according to His will, in the name of Jesus Christ. Believe that what He led you to pray, He Himself will bring it to pass. Then wait on the Lord and continue to pray in faith and watch for it to come to pass. This is not the name it and claim it theology that many have adopted. This is self centered theology and needs to be avoided.

Mark 11:24

24 Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.

When God encounters you, you will face a crisis of faith as I have written last month. It may require major adjustments to your life. So we need to learn how to pray. But even prayer itself might require at times costly adjustments. God may wake you up in the middle of the night to pray. Times may come when there is no sleep at all as you are called to pray. Becoming a person of prayer requires adjustments to our life. We need to set the example at times for our families and our churches. This too can be costly and you might even face opposition. Guiding those around us to pray can be difficult, because it causes them to make adjustments, which are costly to their time and personal resources. Many people and churches have never really embraced prayer. The greatest untapped resource for a family or a church is the prayer of God's people.

The life of following God in His work is never boring and in doing so you see Him at work. Your relationship grows sweeter and sweeter each day as you grow to trust Him, wait on Him, obey and depend on Him?

I would bet that many of you have been called to something even this week and have not considered it a call from God to pray and ask Him what He wanted you to do. What is holding you back?

God bless,

Marty
