Today my cup is filled with Door County Mocha Mint Coffee and my heart is filled with anticipation of a great day spent with Rene and my Aunt. I hope I can keep up with the ladies today.
We often hear the expression of "Put Christ Back Into Christmas". This is posted on billboards and on social media all the time by very well intentioned people. They remind us that Christmas contains the name of Christ and we should honor Him by saying Merry Christmas and not Happy Holidays.
We all see nativity scenes in front of churches and homes and we speak of the baby Jesus and his miracle birth to save the world. This is all wonderful stuff, but today I want to remind you,
Christ does not need to be put back anywhere. He never left his place of honor in heaven. He lost his place in hearts. We forget that the little baby wrapped in swaddling clothes was sent as a gift to be cherished 365 days of the year. If Christ were where He should be in our hearts we wouldn't need to get him back into Christmas. He is already there, we are just blinded and are looking for a feel good month. Feel good moments are just that. They don't last, but for a moment. But Jesus himself proclaimed the good news.
John 14:6New International Version (NIV)
6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
He knew why He came to Earth and just how important He was. He knows it now, the mission hasn't changed.
So if you want others to put Christ back into Christmas you need to put Him back into your vocabulary the other eleven months, your life needs to be a billboard for Jesus. The Christmas Spirit begins with you and your heart.
Have a great day.
God bless.
Marty
