Meals Should Be Pleasurable 12/9/2014

Good Morning,

Tuesday has arrived and my schedule is full beyond belief. Can't fit much more into this day. My coffee this morning is Door County Christmas. I am a little slow today. I watched Monday Night Football and cheered on my favorite team the Green Bay Packers. That makes for a tired guy this morning.

Colossians 3:15-17
And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

Rene and I look forward to our meals together. We sit and talk about our day after giving thanks to God for our meal. Many times we find that during the meal and our conversation we pray for others. Even at breakfast we find the time together very pleasurable as we eat our cereal. We laugh and talk and the meals which could be finished sooner last longer.

Most of the time I eat lunch alone, but even that is pleasurable and it should be. A meal does not have to be fancy to be pleasurable. It does not have to be prime time exquisite to be pleasurable. A slice of bread and a piece of cheese is a pleasure. We can take time to read some scripture while we eat. We should thank God for the food before us and be reminded that it was a gift from Him. We can pray for others during our meal. We can listen to some music or just enjoy some peace and quiet. Meals should be a pleasure.

So whether you are single, or married meal time is a pleasure to enjoy. Whether a huge feast or a meager meal, time with God is to be a pleasure.

Have a great day and eat with a smile.

God bless,

Marty
