God With Us 12/19/2014

Good Morning,

Friday returned to us as it always does. This morning my coffee cup is filled with Door County White Christmas. We were discussing what will be on the table to eat at our home on Christmas Eve yesterday. That discussion left us still undecided. One item for sure will be Cream of Pheasant and Wild Rice Soup.

As we prepare our hearts for the celebration of Christmas let's take a look at some Scripture that is heart warming yet has a warning for us.

Matthew 1:22-23

Now all this took place to fulfill what was spoken by the Lord through the prophet: "BEHOLD, THE VIRGIN SHALL BE WITH CHILD AND SHALL BEAR A SON, AND THEY SHALL CALL HIS NAME IMMANUEL," which translated means, "GOD WITH US."

Jesus left heaven to be born in a manger, live as a man, die on a cross, rise from the grave and then returned to heaven. The Scripture above tells us that our Triune God came to Earth to save the world from the damnation of sin. This is the greatest gift of all.

But Jesus also said that He would be with us always.

Matthew 28:20New King James Version (NKJV)20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.

God then sent us the Holy Spirit, "the third part of the Trinity" so in fact He is with us in Spirit

John 14:26 (KJ2

26 But the Comforter, who is the Holy Ghost whom the Father will send in My name, He shall teach you all things and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

So in fact as I write this and you read these words, God is present. That is most reassuring to know God is present. Is it? If God illuminated Himself  right this second in front of you what would you say? How would you act? What would you differently? Oh yes I cling to the fact that I am never left alone in times of trials. But do we through our actions acknowledge God's presence minute by minute? That is on sobering thought. He is right here.

At Christmas we think about the little baby born of a virgin. But what power that baby has to change lives!!! These verses help me to love God and fear Him. They should warm you and chill you to the bone at the same time.

Food for thought????

God bless,

Marty
