I went to bed looking forward to a big cup of Door County Peanut Butter Crunch Coffee this morning. As planned the coffee pot fired up before I awoke and it spilled forth this morning delight.
Matthew 16:26 For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?
I studied this passage last night with a group. We came up with a list of things that men might think gaining in life would be worth losing their reputation and testimony for Jesus. The answers are not surprising. Money, possessions, family, jobs and the other sex were at the top of the list. What we came up with is that as a group we may have all chosen or considered at least one of these during a time in our lives. None of us were proud.
It makes you think about what you will encounter today. What choices might come our way? Will we be strong enough to resist the temptation?
James 4:7 NKJV
Humility Cures Worldliness
7 Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.We had to deal with the fact that at times we become useless to God because of our sinful choices. The only answer to the question of how can we survive in this world and all of it's temptations is to be humble and submit our lives to God.
God bless,
Marty
