I sure had my fill of strong winds, rain, thunder and lightning yesterday. Thee storms came in fast and left toward Lake Michigan just as fast. The flowers made it through some heavy rain. I will continue to write while I sip on a cup of Door County Cherry Creme Coffee. Happy Friday to all of you.
First came the storm warnings on television and radio. Then the skies blackened and the wind started to whip up a little. If this didn't convince you to stop your yard work and get inside you aren't much for paying attention to the warnings. From the media warnings to natures way of getting our attention we would have no excuse for getting caught out in the storms of yesterday.
It's the same with life. For instance when we work hard we end up tired. If we ignore the warning signs of being tired and we continue to go without rest, we end up sick, or fall asleep while driving. We ignored the built in sign to rest. If after we have completed a naughty deed and we feel guilty, that is the Holy Spirit convicting us of the sin we committed. Our conscience tells us what we did wrong and will continue to convict us each time we commit the sin in the hope of us not doing it again. But we ignore the warnings and then something comes up that exposes the sin causes us shame and we wish we had listened to the warning signs. We have no one to blame but ourselves for ignoring the signs.
James 4:17 New International Version (NIV)
17 If anyone, then, knows the good they ought to do and doesn’t do it, it is sin for them
What is common sense and God trying to tell you today? Are you heeding the warnings?
God bless you today and this weekend.
Marty
