I woke up from a deep sleep and that's a blessing in itself. This morning needs a cup of Door County Mocha Mint Coffee and some prayer.
I watch very little television but it worked out that Rene, my brother in law and I watched a little television last night. In one part of the show a small boy told his story of being bullied by kids in school. They made fun of his leukemia illness and the fact that the chemotherapy caused him to lose his hair. Children can be very mean and unkind.
As parents or grandparents we have two duties when it comes to bullying. We need to protect the bullied and correct the bullying parties. We must protect without becoming bullies ourselves. Believe it or not the Bible has something to say about bullying and our duties.
Psalm 82:4 English Standard Version (ESV)
4 Rescue the weak and the needy;
deliver them from the hand of the wicked.”
Isaiah 41:11-13 English Standard Version (ESV)
11 Behold, all who are incensed against you
shall be put to shame and confounded;
those who strive against you
shall be as nothing and shall perish.
12 You shall seek those who contend with you,
but you shall not find them;
those who war against you
shall be as nothing at all.
13 For I, the Lord your God,
hold your right hand;
it is I who say to you, “Fear not,
I am the one who helps you.”
Romans 12:19-20 English Standard Version (ESV)
19 Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it[a] to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.” 20 To the contrary, “if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink; for by so doing you will heap burning coals on his head.”
Bullies should be confronted and made to stop, yet we need to show them the love of God. it is a fine line to walk. But we should never turn a blind eye to bullying. God doesn't.
