Like A Leaf On A Slow River 10/31/2017

Good Morning,

I pray this day finds you with a peace that surpasses all understanding, sent from Heaven above. My daily cup of warmth is Door County Frosting On The Cake Coffee.

When I duck hunt I sit on the edge of rivers and as the Fall Season strips the trees of their leaves, some of them fall gently onto the flowing river or stream. They ride the flow and go for a smooth journey enjoying the view that is along the banks of the river. Except for me and God no one else saw that leave drop or pass by. It traveled quietly at peace. It never made a splash, just silently fell and joined the river.

Sometimes in life it's just best to go with the flow and cooperate with others and be a team player. Many times when we complain about the direction others are bent on going there is no specific reason for us to object, The real reason we go against the flow is selfishness or wanting to be the center of attention. We want to steer the group or our partner in a direction that best suits us, not our partner or team members.

This causes strife and dissention within our groups, teams or families. One person can mess up the attitude and accomplishments of a group for no particular reason but selfishness or insecurity. Here are a few verses to ponder on being selfish.

Philippians 2:4

Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.

2 Timothy 3:2-4

For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God,

1 John 3:17

But if anyone has the world's goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God's love abide in him?

1 Corinthians 10:24

Let no one seek his own good, but the good of his neighbor.

So commit yourself to a promise of putting others first today. Don't be the cause of strife or grief. At all times try to live peaceably with everyone.

God bless,

Marty
