Life Is Not A Burger 10/27/2017

Good Morning,

Friday arrived right on schedule and I for one am truly happy it did. My mug and insulated bottle were just filled with Door County Caramel Apple Coffee and now it is time to write.

This week was filled with blessings, trials, challenges and surprises. It was a week of diverse settings called "my life". I believe that if many of you were in the room with me you would be saying "amen, me too", while nodding your head in a yes motion.

I would say that if we could all choose how our week went, we would choose blessings over trials, challenges and surprises. One of the fast food burger chains had an add that said "Have It Your Way". None of their burgers were static and could all be made just to your liking. Life is not like that. We can't always have it our way.

If our lives were always just the way we wanted them to be we would choose to take the easy road. But it's the trials and challenges that help us to grow, spiritually and mentally. If we never had a trial or challenge come along we would never learn how to respond to adversity, help others through a rough time and we might not see God leading us through a tough spot. If God leads us to it, He will lead us through it. Our prayer life might not develop to a point of true intimacy with God.

James 1:2-4New International Version (NIV)

Trials and Temptations

Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.

So God allows us to experience trials and challenges to lead us closer to Him and grow in a way that our experience can help others. It's best not to have the burger of life, your way. Not my will Lord, but Your will be done. Amen

Marty
