August Is Here. Get Ready 8/1/2017

Good Morning,

Time for a big mug of Door County Jingle Bell Java Coffee. My last cup of the holiday flavors until November.

Last night I was pretty busy tending to the gardens and it was a little warm outside, I sat myself down to rest and cool off. Within a few minutes Rene joined my at the picnic table and she treated me to a big glass of sweet peach tea with plenty of ice.

We sat and talked for a few minutes and remarked how much the apple crop is down this year, but yet we will have a large harvest of tomatoes and spaghetti squash. We started talking about how we would store the tomatoes for the winter. I for one love to cook with tomato sauce and there is nothing better than tomatoes from our garden in the chili pot. We have already begun to share some of the bounty with others but we will be storing up the tomatoes and squash very soon, as fall is just around the corner. It won't be long until the weather will be making a bowl of chili feel good.

One should always share with others, but at the same time we are to save ahead for those times that are coming. It is wise to save some of the fruit of your labors. It is ok to have a bank account and save  for the future. We give back to God and what is left we try and save for those rainy days that come along.

Proverbs 6:6-8New International Version (NIV)
Go to the ant, you sluggard;
    consider its ways and be wise!
It has no commander,
    no overseer or ruler,
yet it stores its provisions in summer
    and gathers its food at harvest.

 Proverbs 30:25New International Version (NIV)
25 Ants are creatures of little strength,
    yet they store up their food in the summer;

That future bowl of chili will help me to remember the blessings of summer. Salsa anyone?

Marty
