Are You Fighting Satan? Or Following Christ?

Good Morning,

Here's to all of us waking up and seeking some time at the foot of the Risen Savior in fellowship and prayer. My day started with a big cup of Door County Jamaican Blue Mountain Blend Coffee and it is mighty tasty.

John 16:33New International Version (NIV)
33 “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

Revelation 20:7-10English Standard Version (ESV)

The Defeat of Satan

And when the thousand years are ended, Satan will be released from his prison and will come out to deceive the nations that are at the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them for battle; their number is like the sand of the sea. And they marched up over the broad plain of the earth and surrounded the camp of the saints and the beloved city, but fire came down from heaven and consumed them,
10 and the devil who had deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur where the beast and the false prophet were, and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.

I think many Christians spend way too much time giving Satan credit for the battles he brings to us. Yes we fight a spiritual battle, no doubt. But why play around? If you are going to fight, fight to win. Here's the deal. Satan was defeated on the cross. Sin and death were beaten on the cross and then in the resurrection of Jesus. The same power that defeated Satan then is available to us now in the form of the indwelling Holy Spirit. You are equipped with a mouth, now use it. Don't be afraid to tell Satan that sin and death were defeated and that he also has his ending all planned for him. Tell him when he attacks to "hit the road" and start heading to the lake of fire and don't let the door hit him on the way out.

I believe we spend so much time in battle that we lose time that should be spent following Christ. If you were in the boxing ring and had the power to knock out your opponent, would you let him hit you a few times just for fun? No way! You would slap him silly and knock him out asap!

How about more time with Jesus and less time fighting the Village Idiot?

God bless, Swing like you mean it. Take the gloves off. It is a sure win.

Marty
