The Perfect Friend 6/7/2016

Good Morning,

The java machine is making that familiar sound letting me know that it is brew time for my Door County Dublin's Delight Coffee. Time to rise and shine. Each day I share my heart with all of you. From time to time I add a picture of our home. It makes it a little more personal and you know the light is always on and the coffee ready to share.

Last night the kitchen remodel continued. In one corner of the kitchen we had displayed some of the ribbons and plaques that our dogs won over the years. Rene made a good point and said "Hon these are treasures of ours, but they don't really belong in the kitchen. Wouldn't they go better in your den with all your other trophies and treasures?"

I admitted she was correct and moved the items to the den. This part of the collection represents three dogs who we were blessed to bring into our home and make them part of the family. All of them have been very protective of the family and home, especially protective of Rene. They represented the best in loyalty. They always had a wagging tail to greet us when we came home. They hunted until they couldn't and just waited to be able to go again.

If they could talk they would have been the perfect friend. They never passed judgment, held a grudge, complained about the food or accommodations. They always knew when the day was rough and would sit close by just waiting to be invited to sit by us.

These guys would swim through ice water to retrieve a duck, hunt with bloody paws to round up one more pheasant, just to receive a pat on the head and a "Good Boy".

Wouldn't it be nice if we could learn how to be friends from our dogs? Friends that don't keep a record of what they do for each other, or a record of wrongs. Friends that are there in sunshine or shadows. If you have a friend like that or friends like that, you are blessed. You don't need to say a word. If you have a friend like that, they already know who you feel about them and I am sure they feel the same way. But count them as a blessing and thank God for them daily. Pray for them to be blessed from above.  Cherish friendship, it doesn't come along but just a few times in a life.

Proverbs 18:24New King James Version (NKJV)
24 A man who has friends must himself be friendly,
But there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother

Amen!

Marty
