How nice it is to wake up and smell the Door County Frosted Cinnamon Buns Coffee brewing in the kitchen. I stayed outside last night until the sun went down and the mosquitoes came out to pester me.
Rene loves flowers and plants. She especially, is fond of the spring, summer and early fresh flowers that she raises. She works hard to get the planting done, reads up on seeds and hopes for hummingbirds to visit her wild flowers. She rejoices when butterflies flutter around the garden and she always welcomes visits from the honey bees. She doesn't know that I see her out among the flowers sniffing the fragrant ones.
Late in the fall I see her demeanor change when she cuts down the rose bushes, trims the perennials and removes the annual plants, She always says the winter is longer without flowers. I have to break down and go to the flower shop and get a bunch or two once in awhile to keep her from flower withdrawals.
We live in a climate where winter flowers and plants, unless in a green house either die or hibernate through the winter. You always have to wonder what the winter will kill off during the long days in the frozen tundra. Each spring we find that something did not make it and has to be replaced.
Sometimes just when things are looking good a late spring frost will come and wipe out a few of her posies.
Isaiah 40:8
I am glad the Word of God is not like flowers. It has been, is, and will be alive and well for us to spiritually feed from. It can always be counted on to open and allow you to bloom through guidance, teaching or correction. Grab your Bible and open it today. You can count on finding a rose within, just for you. Jesus is that rose. He is a rose among the thorns of life. God's word will always lead you to Him.
Enjoy the summer, winter is just a few months away.
