Lean On Me 6/18/2016

Good Morning,

What a day it seems to b starting out to be. Thee air is so very fresh out here in the yard. The breeze is so slight that it seems to hold the aroma of my Door County Highlander Grog Coffee right in front of my nose. Some of the smoke from the neighborhood bonfires is still in the air. People stayed outside last night pretty late, enjoying some very nice weather.

I took the picture above last night just as the sun was setting. It is a beautiful wild flower  growing in our front garden. It is very fragrant. But the picture is misleading. What you don't see is that it is held up by a green rod. The plant is tied to the rod to help support the weight of the flower. When it rains the flower hangs from the added weight of the water on the leaves and petals. It hangs so low that we are afraid that it will break from the added pressure.

We all need a lift from time to time. It might look as if someone is perfectly fine but deep inside they could use a friend to lean on for awhile. A kind word, a phone call of support, prayer, help with some chores, someone to cry with or someone to tell us what we need to hear. We have all been there at one time or another. We have needed a shoulder to lean on.

Maybe you are fine now and don't need anyone. Well then it might be your turn to lend an ear or a shoulder. When we are stronger we should help those who are for the moment weaker. We should not help just to be seen and puff ourselves up. Like the rod in the picture we should help and not let others see the weakness of those in need. Their moment of need is not there to make us feel good. It is our time to assist and help them stand tall with some help.

Ecclesiastes 4:9-10New International Version (NIV)
Two are better than one,
because they have a good return for their labor:
10 If either of them falls down,
one can help the other up.
But pity anyone who falls
and has no one to help them up.

Who are you holding up today? Do you need someone to hold you up? Lean on me.

God bless,

Marty
