Today will begin with a cup of Door County Highlander Grog Coffee and prayer. I spent last night in prayer for Rene's mother who is 88 and having some pretty serious surgery today. Our grandson will be flying in this afternoon and it looks as if we will have plenty of storms to welcome his flight. Of course I am praying for a safe flight for him.
One thing I can always say about Rene's mother is that every time she ends a phone call or goes home after a family get together she always says to us "I love you". Our daughter is very good at that and my aunt always lets you know that you are loved. Rene and I try hard to make expressing our love to others a good habit.
As rough and tough as I claim to be, I will admit that those three little words mean the world to me and sometimes they are just what I needed to hear. God is the same way. Throughout Scripture he lets us know in written word that He loves us. Bible verses on how God loves me are some of my favorites.
John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
Romans 5:8 but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Galatians 2:20 I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God. who loved me and gave himself for me.
Ephesians 2:4-5 But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ— by grace you have been saved—
1 John 4:9-11 In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him. In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.
Zephaniah 3:17 The LORD your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing
God never tells us anything that isn't important. He clearly wants us to know how much we are loved and He tells us so. So without hesitating at all, we should let others know that they are loved by us. It is important to affirm our actions in words.
Love someone? Tell them! By the way. I love you all!
God bless,
Marty
