The Comfort Of Church 10/28/2014

Good Morning.

My cup is filled with Door County Apple Cobbler Coffee. My day will be busy as usual right up until the last minute. I am looking forward to making a difference for someone today.

Many Christians every Sunday leave comfortable homes, ride in comfortable cars, to sit in comfortable churches to hear comfortable sermons.

Look out if a preacher let's loose with a subject that makes folks uncomfortable. Certain topics are never popular with people that do not want to be convicted by the Holy Spirit of their need to do something or quit something.

These same folks are usually the ones who are afraid stay when the sermon heats up. Many of these comfortable folks also believe in  "church hopping", moving from church to church seeking "warm fuzzies" but nothing of substance.

Hebrews 4:12
For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

Give me a preacher unafraid of preaching repentance and the Gospel of Jesus Christ. My hat is off to the preachers who aren't afraid to tackle the touchy subjects. Most of all my admiration to those who preach what God desires them to speak.

I think it is good for us to have our blood pressure rise in church or even for us to break a sweat when the Holy Spirit breaks our hearts.

Ask God to send you the message you need, not the one you want.

God bless,

Marty
