D-Day So Long Ago 6/6/2020

Good Morning,

The patio furniture is a little wet today from the heavy dew that covers my usual spot to write from. So as I sit in my den located on the second story of our home I have the window open for fresh air and to be able to listen to my little part of the world outside as it wakes up to greet the day. My cup was just filled with Door County Cherry Creme Coffee. fresh air and coffee. What a great combination.

the day (June 6, 1944) in World War II on which Allied forces invaded northern France by means of beach landings in Normandy.

I am grateful for those who sacrificed for our freedom. Three countries had desires to rule the world and in so not only waged war against the rest of the free world but also committed atrocities that should never be forgotten. Millions of lives were lost in the fight to keep us free. Most people living today were not around 76 years ago. Those who were will recall the day. My dad was quick to tell me what D-Day meant to him at an early age. I still remember the lessons and how he spoke of the bravery that the men and women of that day exhibited. Many Allied nations fought together for one cause.

The term D-Day is often applied to a day of change, the day on which an important operation is to begin or a change is to take effect.

Our world is experiencing just that.  The day of change has been called for and is now moving forward. Never before have I witnessed the desire to remove racism from parts of the world like I am seeing now. But it is one thing to desire change and another to do something about it. No it is not landing on beach with landing craft and charging the city with violence. It's D-Day for a change of hearts and minds. People are searching for the answer to an age old question. And the answer can be found in the Bible. Jesus said it plainly and it is a simple message.

Mark 12:30-31 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.  The second of these is to love your neighbor as you love yourself. There is no commandment greater than these.

Over two thousand years ago the verses of true freedom, love, dignity and respect were said to us by the Son of God and the lesson finally might take a foothold on the beaches of our hearts. It would be a shame to not have these words finally sink in and make the changes needed within our country and world. When you start with love in your heart for all men change happens and it becomes natural.

God bless,

Marty
